Route 1
In 2021 I set out on the road to emulate Berenice Abbott’s iconic 1954 Route 1 project. At 2370 miles, Route 1 is the longest north/south road in the U.S., going from the Canadian border in Maine to Key West, Florida. I traveled alone without an agenda, with only my dog for company.
While exploring the small towns, cities and rural areas, I discovered that by being open and attentive, engaging with people and observing the landscape and surroundings, there is beauty all around us. This series is a culmination of that journey, which ultimately reflects how the everyday and ordinary are actually extraordinary.
